Office of Data and Analytics
The Supreme Court of Ohio, acting through the Chief Justice and the Justices of the court, possesses constitutional and statutory authority to exercise general powers of superintendence over the courts of the state. This includes responsibility for providing leadership for the judicial branch of Ohio government. The administrative staff of the Supreme Court supports these efforts by performing numerous administrative functions.
The Office of Data and Analytics leads the Supreme Court of Ohio’s efforts to treat data as a strategic asset that supports transparency, accountability, and evidence-based decision-making across Ohio’s courts. The Office provides accurate, timely, and actionable data that strengthens court operations, informs policy development, and enhances public trust in the judiciary. It delivers analytical and research support to guide judicial and legislative planning, promotes transparency through accessible public reports and dashboards, and offers technical assistance and education to help courts use data effectively for caseflow management and performance improvement. The Office also serves as a vital resource to the Supreme Court and its offices by providing data-informed insights that support operational improvements and strategic decision-making.
Supreme Court Data Resources
To support local court operations, inform policy making, and foster public trust and confidence in Ohio’s courts, the Supreme Court makes available on its website a variety of resources to obtain data. General informational resources that are not data-centric are not listed here. For general resources for courts, visit the Bench Cards, Guides & Toolkits webpage.

They are intended to be a tool for courts to monitor and improve case management and to help facilitate the public’s awareness of the work performed in the courts across the state. - Capital Case Indictments and Dispositions
Pursuant to R.C. 2929.021(A), the clerk of the court in any county where an indictment is filed charging one or more counts of aggravated murder with aggravating circumstances must, within fifteen days of the filing, submit a notice to the Supreme Court indicating that the indictment has been filed. Also, pursuant to R.C. 2929.021(B), the clerk of the court in any county that has filed such a notice under division (A) must also, within fifteen days of the filing, submit a notice to the Supreme Court when a plea of guilty or no contest is entered, or when the indictment is dismissed. The Clerk’s Office publishes a resource detailing this information annually, beginning in 1981. Please note that the database only lists those notices that were filed with the Supreme Court and may not include all capital indictments filed in a given county or year. Please contact the specific county to confirm the specific number of capital indictments filed in a given time period. - eStats Public Report
