Judicial Candidates, Appointees, and New Judges

The Supreme Court of Ohio has waived self-study caps (i.e., 24 hours for live webinars and 12 for online courses) for judicial officers and attorneys with the last names beginning with M through Z for the reporting period ending Dec. 31, 2022.


Required Education for Judicial Candidates

All judicial candidates, including incumbent judges, are required to attend a two hour seminar on campaign practices, finance, and ethics, pursuant to Rule 4.2(A)(4) of the Code of Judicial Conduct.

Required Education for New Judges

All new judges — elected and appointed, part-time and full-time — are required to participate in the four-part Judicial Orientation Program, pursuant to Gov.Jud.R. IV(3)(E).
