The Ohio Supreme Court adopted the Uniform Bar Examination (UBE) and beginning with the February 2021 exam, Ohio will administer its first UBE. These essay questions were written by the Ohio Board of Bar Examiners and were used on the Ohio Bar Examination. These essay questions are simply a guide and should not be substituted for a MEE. Further, the answers associated with the essay questions and the MPT items were graded by the Ohio Board of Bar Examiners and illustrates what the Board considered above average performance on the written portion of the examination.

The February 2026 Ohio Bar Examination will be held on February 24-25, 2026, at Quest Conference Center, located at 9200 Worthington Rd., Ste. 400, Westerville, OH 43082.
The July 2026 Ohio Bar Examination will be held on July 28-29, 2026. Examinees will test at one of the following locations:
- Cleveland: Cleveland State University College of Law, 1801 Euclid Ave. Cleveland, OH 44115
- Toledo: University of Toledo College of Law, 1825 W. Rocket Dr., Toledo, OH 43606
- Columbus: OSU Moritz College of Law, Drinko Hall, 55 W 12th Ave, Columbus, OH 43210
- Cincinnati: University of Cincinnati College of Law, 2925 Campus Green Dr, Cincinnati, OH 45221
Accommodations testing will be located at:
- Case Western Reserve University School of Law 11075 E. Blvd., Cleveland, OH 44106
- Capital University Law School 303 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43215

IMPORTANT NOTE:
All persons who wish to sit for the Uniform Bar Examination in Ohio must:
- First, file an Application to Register as a Candidate “Registration Application”
- Then, submit an Application to take the Bar Examination “Bar Application”
For the July 2026 bar examination, the deadline to submit a Registration Application is January 15, 2026. The timely deadline to submit a Bar Application is April 1, 2026 and the late deadline is May 11, 2026. No applications for the July 2026 exam will be accepted after May 11, 2026.
The Bar Admissions Section will begin accepting Bar Applications for the February 2027 exam after May 11, 2026.
Before you are qualified to sit for an exam, you must satisfy all of the pre-exam conditions required in Gov. Bar R. I (e.g., receive final character and fitness approval, file certifications that you received a J.D. and had instruction on substance abuse). Qualified applicants will receive confirmation of their eligibility to sit, along with their exam instructions, approximately two weeks before the exam on the Bar Admissions Portal.
