Justice Lanzinger Receives 2014 Leading the Way Award

Justice Judith Ann Lanzinger received the Leading the Way Award today from the Ohio Women’s Bar Foundation for her outstanding leadership in the legal profession. Created in 2013, the award is designed to inspire women in law to promote, inspire, and mentor other women.

Justice Lanzinger spoke at the foundation’s luncheon for the Leadership Institute’s 2014 graduates and 2015 incoming class, developing the theme “Leadership – More Than Leaning In.”

“What an honor to accept this recognition,” Justice Lanzinger said. “I think that leadership has both internal and external qualities. We women have been told we must lean in to be personally successful in our careers. I believe that a good leader is also someone who others can lean on.”

Former Ohio Supreme Court Justice Yvette McGee Brown served as the event’s emcee.

Now serving her second six-year term on the Supreme Court, Justice Lanzinger is the only person ever elected to every level of Ohio’s judiciary. As the 150th justice of the Ohio Supreme Court, she previously served on the Sixth District Court of Appeals for Ohio, the Lucas County Court of Common Pleas, and the Toledo Municipal Court. Her varied judicial experience allows her to share her unique perspective on the state’s court system.
