New Technology Improves Judicial College Webinars
The Ohio Judicial College will use a new Web-based platform for the first time on Sept. 2 to offer a distance learning program for continuing legal education credit. Ohio Judges and magistrates will be able to participate in the “Abuse, Neglect and Dependency Update” at one of 16 county sites throughout the state.
The new platform marks a milestone in the Judicial College’s ongoing efforts to enhance the availability and ease of the learning experience for judges, magistrates and court personnel. The improved technology enables participants to register electronically and travel to a local site to earn CLE credit, while site facilitators are charged with all technological responsibilities.
With the new Web-based platform, faculty and students can see the same Web pages and multimedia components at the same time and interact, either verbally or through typed “chat” messages.
Attendees of past Judicial College videoteleconferences frequently note the convenience, cost-savings and faculty accessibility as benefits.
The county locations are: Allen, Clermont, Cuyahoga, Franklin, Gallia, Hamilton, Lawrence, Lorain, Lucas, Mahoning, Ross, Stark, Summit, Trumbull, Union and Wood.
Judges and magistrates who want to watch the session from their own offices can do so but will not receive CLE credit for participation.
Interested parties can register for the course with the Judicial eCademy at judicialecademy.ohio.gov/.
