Local Court Rules Accessible Through Supreme Court Web Site

For the first time, local court rules from Ohio trial courts have been posted online in one place, the Supreme Court of Ohio announced today.

Supreme Court Clerk of Court Kristina D. Frost said Rule 5 of the Rules of Superintendence for Ohio Courts requires courts to file their rules with the Supreme Court. Nearly 250 local courts have submitted their rules electronically or forwarded to the Supreme Court links to access the rules.

“I see several benefits of this project,” Frost said. “Attorneys practicing in a court unfamiliar to them will be able to easily access a court’s local rules for filing, timing, format, and other requirements; courts will readily see how counterparts address a specific rule-related issue; and court-related associations will be able to research various policy and procedural issues.”

The rules can be accessed by visiting one of three drop-down menus on the left-hand side of the Supreme Court’s Web site at http://www.supremecourt.ohio.gov/:  “The Ohio Judicial System – Ohio Trial Courts & Local Rules,” “Clerk of Court & Case Information – Local Rules” or “Ohio Rules of Court – Local Rules.”
