Municipal, County Judges Meet for Summer Conference

Information about changes to traffic laws and OVI (operating a vehicle while under the influence) laws are a consistent draw every year at the annual summer conference of Ohio municipal and county court judges.

At the meeting this week, which wrapped up today, Clermont County Municipal Court Judge James A. Shriver presented a traffic law changes update and Garfield Heights Municipal Court Judge Jennifer P. Weiler handled the OVI update.

The Association of Municipal/County Judges of Ohio educational program also featured sessions on new legislation, commercial debt issues and civil jury trials, jury instructions, diversion programs and alternative sentencing, and promoting professionalism from the bench.

Additionally, Chris Davey, Supreme Court of Ohio director of the Office of Public Information, discussed with the judges new media and the courts and the impact these new technological tools are having on trials, jurors and courts in general.

The Supreme Court Judicial College works with the association to plan the education program.
