Governor Appoints Blanchard to Coshocton County Probate/Juvenile Court

Coshocton County Probate/Juvenile Court will have a new judge as of Monday after the appointment of Van Blanchard II Tuesday by Gov. John R. Kasich.

Blanchard replaces former Judge David Burns, who died Sept. 16. In order to serve out the remainder of the unexpired term, which ends Feb. 8, 2015, Blanchard must run in the November 2012 general election.

Blanchard received his bachelor’s degree and law degree from The Ohio State University. Since 2001, Blanchard has served as an assistant prosecuting attorney for Coshocton County. He also served as an assistant public defender for Coshocton County Public Defender’s office and as a staff attorney for the U.S. Treasury.

Blanchard is a member or the Ohio State Bar Association and served as the president of the Coshocton County Bar Association from July 2008 until July 2010. He is a member of the Leadership Coshocton County Board and the Coshocton County Public Defenders Commission, and also works with the Hospice of Coshocton County and the Boy Scouts of America.
