Court Managers Present Inaugural Moyer Scholarship at Conference
At the recent annual fall conference for court management professionals, the Ohio Association for Court Administration (OACA) presented the inaugural Chief Justice Thomas J. Moyer Memorial Scholarship Award to Court Administrator Michael Kochera.
OACA established the scholarship this year in memory of the late Chief Justice as a tribute to his legacy of promoting the continued professional development of court professionals and court administration. The $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a court professional for use at any approved court/judicial professional development opportunity such as the OACA conference, National Association for Court Management conference, Court Management Program courses, and Judicial College courses.
Canton Municipal Court’s Kochera accepted the scholarship from OACA President and Lucas County Common Pleas Court Administrator Don Colby.
“I’m humbled and honored to accept the inaugural Chief Justice Thomas J. Moyer Memorial Scholarship Award,” said Kochera. “Chief Justice Moyer’s commitment to the professionalization of court administration and professional development for court personnel was unparalleled. Anyone employed in today’s judiciary owes a debt of gratitude to the legacy left by Chief Justice Moyer and I am honored to accept this award in his name.”

- At-Large Trustee – Tim Lubbe, court administrator, Lorain County Common Pleas Court
- At-Large Trustee – Marcia Cave, court administrator, Licking County Domestic Relations Court
