Chief Justice Elect O’Connor Issues Statement on Governor’s Appointment of McGee Brown
Chief Justice Elect Maureen O’Connor issued a statement today responding to the announcement by Gov. Ted Strickland that he will appoint former Franklin County Court of Common Pleas Judge Yvette McGee Brown to serve on the Supreme Court of Ohio in the seat Chief Justice Elect O’Connor will vacate when she is sworn in Jan. 1 as Chief Justice of Ohio.
“I think I speak for all my colleagues on the Court when I say that we are looking forward to working with Yvette McGee Brown,” Justice O’Connor said. “I am very happy that the governor has announced his selection so we can begin the important work of preparing for a new Court in the New Year. Judge McGee Brown is an accomplished, respected public servant, and she brings much needed diversity to the Court. I also want to extend my personal congratulations to Judge McGee Brown on this extraordinary accomplishment.”
