Judges Recognized at Probate, Juvenile, Domestic Relations Meeting
MAINEVILLE – At the annual summer conference for the associations of Ohio probate, juvenile and domestic relations judges this week, two judges received 2010 awards during the final night’s banquet program.
Fayette County Probate/Juvenile Court Judge Nancy D. Hammond received the President’s Award, which recognizes the recipient for outstanding contributions to the association and the system of justice.
Perry County Probate/Juvenile Court Judge Luann Cooperrider received the Distinguished Service Award, which recognizes the recipient for outstanding service in her community.
In addition, Sally Walter-Barr, former director of the Hocking Valley Community Residential Center, received the Non-Attorney Award for extraordinary conduct/service/support. The award winner must be nominated by an association member. Funded by the Department of Youth Services, the community correction facility in Nelsonville serves southeastern Ohio felony youth.
Jackson County Probate/Juvenile Court Judge Stephen D. Michael, outgoing president of the Ohio Association of Juvenile Court Judges, presented the awards and offered remarks. Richland County Probate Court Judge Philip Alan B. Mayer, as president of the Ohio Association of Probate Judges, and Greene County Domestic Relations Court Judge Steven L. Hurley, as president of the Ohio Association of Domestic Relations Judges, also offered remarks.
