November's General Election Features 50 Contested Judicial Races

About 50 contested judicial races will face voters when they go the polls in less than four weeks for the Nov. 2 general election.

Two of three Supreme Court seats, 12 of the 27 appeals court posts, 32 of the 120 common pleas court positions, and two of the 10 match-ups for county court are contested this election cycle.

The Supreme Court of Ohio Web site will post results from all judicial races by noon the day after Election Day.

All judges in Ohio are elected to six-year terms. Elections for Supreme Court, appeals court, common pleas court and county court judges occur in even-numbered years while elections for municipal court judgeships occur in odd-numbered years.

For more information about the candidates, consult one of Ohio’s 88 county boards of elections or the Secretary of State’s 2010 Judicial & Candidate Voter Voter Guide for Ohio.
