Nearly 500 Seek to Take February Bar Exam
Nearly 500 applicants have applied to take the February 2010 Ohio Bar Examination, the Supreme Court of Ohio announced today.
The February 2010 Ohio Bar Exam will be administered Feb. 23 through Feb. 25 in Columbus. Nov. 1, 2009 was the deadline for filing applications to take the first bar exam in 2010. Of the two annual bar exams, fewer attorney hopefuls take the February exam than the exam in July.
Of the February applicants, 426 Ohioans from 47 counties applied to take the exam with Franklin County leading the way with 95 applicants. Fifty-nine out-of-state applicants from 18 different states and Canada have applied to take the exam.
The bar exam is administered by the Supreme Court, which regulates the practice of law in Ohio, including the admission of new attorneys, the biennial registration of current attorneys, attorney discipline in cases of misconduct, and the administration of continuing legal education.
Twice a year, the Court publishes in the Ohio Official Reports Advance Sheets a list of the names, cities, and counties or states of residence of those persons who have applied for admission to the practice of law in Ohio. The Court also distributes copies of the list to all regional and local bar association admissions committees.
