Ohio Judicial Center Foundation Elects Final At-Large Member

A non-profit foundation through which charitable donations can be made to the Supreme Court of Ohio elected its third and final at-large member to its board of directors recently.

The Ohio Judicial Center Foundation Inc. was created for the charitable and educational public purposes of preserving the artistic, architectural, and historic integrity of the Ohio Judicial Center, which serves as the home to the Supreme Court.

Operated by a 13-member board of directors, the foundation elected Cincinnati attorney H.C. “Buck” Niehoff to its final at-large membership post. In June, the board elected Columbus attorney Larry H. James and Cleveland development executive Susan Jaros to fill the other two seats.

Niehoff is Of Counsel at Peck Shaffer. He has more than 30 years of public finance experience, serving as bond counsel to numerous Ohio cities, counties, state agencies and school districts. He earned his law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law and his bachelor’s degree from Denison University.

On June 1, 2009, the Supreme Court granted specific authorization to the Commission on the Ohio Judicial Center to file the necessary documents with the Secretary of State to create the foundation and to obtain tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service.

In May, the foundation’s officers were elected. They include: URS Corporation’s Michael L. (Mick) Ball as chair; Capital University Law School Dean Richard C. Simpson as vice chair; and Supreme Court Assistant Administrative Director Rick Dove as secretary/treasurer.
