Domestic Relations Judges Elect 2011 Officers
Muskingum County Domestic Relations Court Judge Jeffrey A. Hooper will serve as president of the Ohio Association of Domestic Relations Judges for 2011. He was among a slate of six officers elected for leadership positions at the group’s annual winter conference earlier this month.
Judge Hooper has served in the judiciary for nearly 30 years. From 1981 to 2003, he was on the Muskingum County Court bench. In 2003, he became the first – and only – judge of the new domestic relations division. He also served as assistant city solicitor for Zanesville for three years and as a private practice attorney for nearly 30 years. He received his law degree from Washington & Lee University.
“I am honored to represent the association and its members,” said Judge Hooper. “I look forward to working with the judges, legislature and other stakeholders to provide meaningful education programs and to explore areas where legislative initiatives can provide better outcomes for individuals with family law issues.”
The other judges elected to leadership positions in the association include:
- Henry County Domestic Relations/Juvenile Court Judge Denise Herman McColley, president-elect
- Licking County Domestic Relations Judge Richard P. Wright, vice president
- Morgan County Common Pleas Court Judge Dan W. Favreau, secretary
- Butler County Domestic Relations Court Judge Sharon L. Kennedy, treasurer
- Greene County Domestic Relations Court Judge Steven L. Hurley, immediate past president
The association, which consists of common pleas judges having domestic relations court jurisdiction, promotes the common interests of Ohio domestic relations court judges and provides leadership for a just and effective domestic relations court system throughout the state. The association addresses issues affecting divorce, dissolution, legal separation and annulment, civil domestic violence cases, child custody, child support, parenting time issues, spousal support and other related matters, as well as court administration aspects of these issues.
