Supreme Court Adopts Rules of Superintendence Amendments
The Supreme Court of Ohio today announced the adoption of several amendments to the Rules of Superintendence for the Courts of Ohio. The amendments become effective July 1. Justices voted 7-0 in approving the amendments.
The changes include:
- Amendments to Sup. R. 37, which outlines the statistical reports and information Ohio courts must submit to the Case Management Section. These include a new requirement for judges to submit information on local capital case indictments and the outcome of those cases. These capital crime statistics will be submitted along with the monthly case reports that courts already provide. Under the current rule, local capital case information is submitted by the county clerks of court.
- Amendments to Sup. R. 4, Sup. R. 35, Sup. R. 39, Sup. R. 40, Sup. R. 41, Sup. R. 42, Temp. Sup. R. 1.08 and Temp. Sup. R. 1.10 that replace outdated language referring to the Court Statistical Reporting Section with Case Management Section.
- Amendments to Sup. R. 2, which contain definitions to several terms used throughout the Rules of Superintendence.
