Court Management Personnel Attend Spring Conference
At this week’s annual Ohio Association for Court Administration (OACA) spring conference, court management professionals will learn about the various services available via the Supreme Court of Ohio.
The “Knowledge Fair” features orientation sessions about the Case Management Section, Judicial and Court Services, the Ohio Judicial College, and other sections and programs. Supreme Court personnel will be on hand to answer questions. The conference also includes a leadership presentation and court-specific breakout sessions for discussion of common issues of concern.
Welcoming remarks from Chief Justice Thomas J. Moyer greeted the attendees this morning. In addition, Administrative Director Steven C. Hollon will provide an update on legislative and other Supreme Court initiatives to the group on Friday.
OACA President Kimberly Switzer, who serves as director of court services for the general division of the Hancock County Common Pleas Court, said tough economic times are forcing courts to find other avenues to provide the same level of service. One of those ways is for local courts to access assistance from the state. She also noted that the organization’s new mentoring program will match new administrators with veteran court leaders to assist them in managing their courts creatively.
As the professional association of court managers established in 1973, OACA consists of more than 160 members from all court jurisdictions and court-related agencies and focuses on enhancing their professional development and leadership skills, improving the administration of justice through modern management practices and providing legislative and policy updates.
OACA’s two annual conferences offer continuing legal education opportunities and a chance to hear from leaders in the fields of court technology, personnel management, financial management, team building, court security and other areas of interest for court managers.
