Municipal Judge Kersker Memorial Service Today
Memorial services are being held today for Akron Municipal Court Judge Linda Kersker, who died Thursday at the Cleveland Clinic.
Judge Kersker, 61, reportedly suffered from a descending aortic aneurysm.
“We’re going to miss her,” Akron Municipal Judge Stephen Fallis told the Akron Beacon Journal. “She was a wonderful judge and a great person. She was a person with great energy and passion for life and public work.”
Judge Kersker was appointed to the bench in February 2009. Prior to that, she had a distinguished 37-year career as a trial attorney with the Akron law firm Brouse McDowell. She attained a peer-based rating of AV, representing the highest rating for legal ability and ethics. She was a member of the Akron, Ohio State, American and Federal Bar Associations.
Judge Kersker also had a distinguished history of community service, including 16 years on the Akron Board of Education, where she served as board president three times.
A memorial will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2009 at Firestone High School, where she was a member of the school’s first graduating class in 1965.
