Winner Declared in Findlay Municipal Court Judge Primary Election

A recount conducted today by the Hancock County Board of Elections has confirmed that Jonathan P. Starn’s margin of victory over Donald J. Rasmussen for Findlay Municipal Court judge remains at 16 votes.

Out of 7,754 total votes cast in the race, Starn received 2,569 votes (33.13 percent) while Rasmussen received 2,553 votes (32.92 percent). Meanwhile, Kelton K. Smith received 1,466 votes (18.91 percent) and Garth W. Brown received 1,166 votes (15.04 percent).

The four Republican candidates were vying to replace retiring Judge Kevin C. Smith, who did not seek re-election. Because no Democratic or independent candidate filed for the seat, Starn will not face an opponent in November’s general election for a term that begins Jan. 2, 2010.
