Common Pleas Judges Elect Leadership for 2009
Warren County Common Pleas Court Judge James L. Flannery will serve as president of the Ohio Common Pleas Judges Association this year. He was among a slate of nine officers elected for leadership positions at the group’s annual winter conference.
Before coming to the general division bench in 2003, Judge Flannery served the domestic relations division as judge from 1987 to 2002. Previously, he served for six years as chief assistant prosecutor and six years as Warren County prosecuting attorney in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s. Judge Flannery is a member of the Ohio and Warren County bar associations and a past president of the Ohio Association of Domestic Relations Judges. He received his law degree from the University of Cincinnati.
“It is a privilege to represent an organization filled with intelligent hard-working judges,” said Judge Flannery. “We all share the common desire to serve our communities and to administer justice to all parties regardless of their race, religion or economic status. I am very honored to be the first judge to serve as president of two different common pleas judges associations, and I look forward to a successful year with the help of my colleagues.”
The other judges elected to leadership positions in the association include:
- Butler County Judge Michael J. Sage, president-elect
- Summit County Judge Patricia A. Cosgrove, first vice president
- Montgomery County Judge Michael T. Hall, second vice president
- Hancock County Judge Reginald J. Routson, third vice president
- Trumbull County Judge Peter J. Kontos, fourth vice president
- Wayne County Judge Mark K. Wiest, secretary
- Champaign County Judge Roger B. Wilson, treasurer
- Delaware County Judge Everett H. Krueger, past president
The common pleas judges association’s membership includes all general division judges of the state’s common pleas courts, and its mission is to improve the law, the legal system and the effective administration of justice.
