Training Enables Accurate Caseload Data Reporting

Common pleas court personnel from around Ohio attended a training session today on reporting caseload statistics to the Supreme Court of Ohio.

Ohio courts submit caseload data to the Supreme Court on a monthly or quarterly basis. Using the data, the Supreme Court’s Case Management Section identifies trends for local courts to help them better allocate resources. The statistics also form the backbone of the Supreme Court’s annual Ohio Courts Statistical Report.

The training included:

  • A thorough instruction on completing reporting forms
  • Instructions on the proper classification of cases and termination types
  • A review of the Rules of Superintendence for the Courts of Ohio regarding caseload statistics
  • Stephanie Hess, manager of the section, said the goal of the training is to familiarize court personnel with reporting requirements and forms. “A critical component to the mission of every court is to inform Ohio citizens of its caseload activities,” Hess said. “Our Case Management staff members assist courts in meeting that mission through accurate and consistent reporting.”
