Supreme Court Advises Courts on Applications for Byrne Grants
The Supreme Court of Ohio today advised that Ohio courts are eligible to apply to the federal government Byrne Competitive Grant Program, which is accepting applications through April 27. This program is part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of the Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs (OJP) in Washington, D.C.
The Supreme Court announced that staff in the Office of Judicial & Court Services are available to consult and advise local courts considering applying for the grants.
According to the National Center for State Courts, when applying for the grants, courts should consider the following:
- One of the priority areas of this solicitation is “Supporting Problem Solving Courts”
- There is no state match requirement under this grant application
- There is no prohibition on supplanting existing federal funds that may be in use for a project.
