Board of Bar Examiners Names First Vice Chair

Columbus attorney Lisa Weekley Coulter, Counsel to Frost Brown Todd LLC, will serve as the first vice chair of the Supreme Court of Ohio’s Board of Bar Examiners. She will begin her one-year term on April 1.

The Supreme Court announced today the adoption of an amendment that creates the vice chair position. The purpose behind the change is to provide additional support to the board in performing its duties.

Coulter, who has a wide range of litigation experience performing trial and appellate work at the district court and Supreme Court levels, practices in the litigation section. Her experience includes insurance defense; surety and fidelity insurance; insurance coverage and “bad faith” claims; personal injury and consumer sales practice litigation. She graduated cum laude from Marietta College with a bachelor’s degree and received her law degree from The Ohio State University College of Law.

Similar to the chair position, the Supreme Court will designate one bar examiner each year to serve as vice chair of the board. Columbus attorney Michael P. Morrison, a partner with Government Advantage Group, was reappointed chair of the board for 2009. His new one-year term will also begin April 1.

The Board of Bar Examiners is responsible for developing, administering, and grading the Ohio bar examination. The Supreme Court appoints the board’s 18 members who serve five-year terms. Bar examinations are administered in Columbus in February and July of each year.

The new rule, which becomes effective Feb. 1, can be found at: http://www.supremecourt.ohio.gov/RuleAmendments/Archive.aspx.
