Fairfield County Resident Appointed Chair of Supreme Court Committee

Fairfield County resident Pam Harris will lead the Advisory Committee on the Judicial Family Network as chair for 2009-10, the Supreme Court of Ohio announced today. She replaces Tim Gorman whose one-year term as chair is ending.

With 726 judges at all levels of the judiciary in Ohio, the 18-member advisory committee identifies the needs and concerns of judicial families and offers them educational opportunities and a supportive network. Mary Moyer, wife of Chief Justice Thomas J. Moyer, founded the advisory committee in 2000 after her work with the Judicial Family Institute. The institute, which is affiliated with the national Conference of Chief Justices, focuses on the challenges of public life for judicial families nationally.

Mrs. Harris, who is serving her second term on the advisory committee, was appointed in 2004. She is a graduate of Franklin University and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in human resource management. She works as a human resources manager in Lancaster.

“The Judicial Family Network is a wonderful resource for judicial families, and I am honored to be chairing the committee,” said Harris, the wife of Fairfield County Municipal Court Judge Patrick Harris. “The advisory committee strives to provide quality programs that assist in the transition to judicial life and with common judicial family situations. The collective experience and perspectives of the committee members can be valuable to both new and experienced judicial families.”

Judge Harris began his term on the municipal court bench on Dec. 1, 2003. Previously, he served as the county administrator for the Fairfield County commissioners and before that served as an assistant Fairfield County prosecutor and the assistant Lancaster City prosecutor. He holds degrees from the Bowling Green State University and The Ohio State University College of Law.

Pam and Judge Harris live in Lancaster with their two children, ages 12 and 14.
