Domestic Relations Judges Elect Leadership for 2009
Summit County Domestic Relations Court Judge Carol J. Dezso will serve as president of the Ohio Association of Domestic Relations Judges this year. She was among a slate of six officers elected for leadership positions at the group’s annual winter conference in December.
Judge Dezso said she’s excited to the lead the association in 2009. “I’m looking forward to addressing the larger statewide issues with respect to domestic relations courts this year,” she said.
Judge Dezso has been a domestic relations judge in Summit County since 1993. Previously, she served as chief referee for the court from 1990 to 1992 and referee from 1983 to 1990. Judge Dezso received her law degree in 1979 from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law at Cleveland State University. She was an attorney in private practice for three years after law school.
The other judges elected to leadership positions in the association include:
- Greene County Domestic Relations Court Judge Steven L. Hurley, president-elect
- Muskingum County Domestic Relations Court Judge Jeffrey A. Hooper, vice president
- Morgan County Common Pleas Court Judge Dan W. Favreau, secretary
- Butler County Domestic Relations Court Judge Sharon L. Kennedy, treasurer
- Licking County Domestic Relations Court Judge Craig Baldwin, immediate past president
The association, which consists of common pleas judges having domestic relations court jurisdiction, promotes the common business interests of Ohio domestic relations court judges and provides leadership for a just and effective domestic relations court system throughout the state. The association addresses issues affecting divorce, dissolution, legal separation and annulment, civil domestic violence cases, child custody, child support, parenting time issues, spousal support and other related matters, as well as court administration aspects of these issues.
