Confidential Court Records

The Ohio Supreme Court has adopted an amendment to the Rules of Superintendence that requires local courts to protect sensitive personal information contained in the records of juvenile and domestic relations civil proceedings. The amendment, Sup.R.44(C)(2)(h), became effective Jan. 1, 2016.

Youth Restraint Rule

The Ohio Supreme Court has adopted Sup.R.5.01. The amendment to the Rules of Superintendence for the Courts of Ohio mandates that local courts adopt rules to regulate the shackling of youth appearing in court proceedings. Under the amendment, local restraint rules will create presumption against shackling. The amendment took effect July 1, 2016.

Stephanie Graubner Nelson

The Advisory Committee on Children & Families is established to provide advice on issues involving children and families in the courts of Ohio. The Committee reviews and makes recommendations on such topics as domestic violence, guardians ad litem, domestic relations, and juvenile matters. The Committee is staffed by Stephanie Graubner Nelson, the manager of the Children & Families Section.
