Financial Disclosure for Judges, Magistrates, and Judicial Candidates

Each judge, retired judge eligible for assignment to active duty, magistrate, and judicial candidate is required to file an annual financial disclosure statement with the Supreme Court Board of Commissioners on Grievances & Discipline. See R.C. 102.02 and Jud. Cond. R. 3.15

For most filers, the statement must be filed on or before April 15, 2014. If you are a candidate for judicial office in 2014, please see the instructions for your filing deadline.

NOTE: The Ohio Ethics Commission has extended the deadline for filing financial disclosure statements in 2014. This extension does not apply to judges, retired judges, magistrates, or candidates for judicial office. The deadline for most judicial branch filers remains April 15, 2014. If you are a candidate for judicial office, please see the instructions for your filing deadline.

There is no filing fee for a judge, retired judge, magistrate, or judicial candidate who files a financial disclosure statement with the Board of Commissioners on Grievances & Discipline. The costs of administering the financial disclosure are paid from attorney registration fees.

New in 2014—Electronic Filing

New this year is the option of electronically completing and filing your financial disclosure statement.  Electronic filing has several advantages including the assurance that you have completed all necessary portions of the statement prior to filing, the receipt of an immediate acknowledgement that your form has been filed, and the ability to print or save a time-stamped copy of your completed statement.  In subsequent years, your financial disclosure statement will be pre-populated with information contained in the previous year’s statement so that you will need only to update your statement before filing.  Electronic filing will be mandatory for all Judicial Branch filers within the next two years, so you are encouraged to prepare and file your statement electronically this year.

The online filing portal may be accessed at the following web address: https://disclosure.ethics.ohio.gov.

If you do not choose to file electronically this year, you may access the 2013 financial disclosure statement (to be filed in 2014) here:
