Ohio Bar Exam Results Announced

The Ohio Supreme Court released results today from the February 2019 Ohio Bar Examination. Of the 378 aspiring lawyers who sat for the exam, 200 (52.9 percent) passed; Among 165 first-time test takers, 66 percent received passing scores.

The exam was administered at the Roberts Centre, a hotel and convention complex in Wilmington, Ohio, Feb. 26-28.

The successful applicants, who have also satisfied all the Supreme Court of Ohio’s other admission requirements, will be sworn in during a special session of the Supreme Court on Monday, May 13 at 2 p.m. at the Palace Theatre in Columbus.

The oath will be administered to successful applicants from Capital University, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland State University, Ohio Northern University, Ohio State University, the University of Akron, the University of Cincinnati, the University of Dayton, the University of Toledo, Northern Kentucky University, and other out-of-state law schools.

The bar exam is administered twice a year by the Court, which regulates the practice of law in Ohio, including the admission of new attorneys, the biennial registration of current attorneys, attorney discipline in cases of misconduct, and the administration of continuing legal education.

The next examination will be July 30 - Aug. 1 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
