Supreme Court Administrative Director Steven C. HollonSteven C. Hollon is the Administrative Director of the Supreme Court of Ohio. The Administrative Director is a constitutionally created position in Ohio government and serves at the pleasure of the Court. As the senior non-elected officer of the Court, the Administrative Director is responsible for oversight of the six operational divisions of the Court and it’s over 250 employees, and administering the Judiciary/Supreme Court budget of over $140 million.

The Administrative Director assists the Chief Justice and Justices of the Court and the judiciary of the state in developing the long-term vision, values, and direction of the Court and the judicial branch. In this role, the Administrative Director oversees the development of emerging issues by supervising staff support for special projects, initiatives, and boards, commissions, and task forces; develops and maintains relationships with the legislative and executive branches of Ohio government, and engages in liaison activities with bar associations and law schools throughout the state.

Hollon is an attorney who began his legal career as a judicial law clerk with the Ohio Twelfth District Court of Appeals, later becoming that court’s administrator.  He then entered the private practice of law in Hamilton, Ohio before becoming the administrator and senior staff attorney of the Ohio Second District Court of Appeals in Dayton. He was appointed to the Butler County Court of Common Pleas in January 1999, but declined the position to accept his current duties in March of that year.

Hollon has served on the Supreme Court’s Board of Commissioners on Grievances and Discipline and has presented at numerous judges’ association meetings, including a week long seminar on judicial administration and legal ethics at the Ukrainian Supreme Court in Kiev.

Hollon has also served as President of the Conference of State Court Administrators, Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors for the National Center for State Courts in Williamsburg, Virginia, Chairman of the Ohio United Way, and on the Board of Directors for the Ohio State Bar Foundation.

He received his B.A. from Muskingum College, M.S. from Miami University, and J.D. from Ohio Northern University.
